Keep your eyes well peeled for Hollywood royalty if you’re staying in b and bs in Northumberland this week (September 16th), as the latest instalment in the Transformers movie franchise is filming at Alnwick Castle and on the beach at Bamburgh… which is very exciting news indeed for this wonderful part of the world!
According to the Northumberland Gazette, Transformers: The Last Knight – the fifth film in the series – will be released on June 23rd next year, starring Stanley Tucci, Mark Wahlberg and Sir Anthony Hopkins. If you are in the region, keep your cameras at the ready so you can snap a famous face or two and really have a tale to tell when you get back home again.
Unfortunately, the beach at Bamburgh has been closed to the public so make sure you check that it’s reopened before you make your way there so as to avoid any disappointment. Scenes are being filmed on location there between September 17th and 18th, so while you won’t be able to get down to the beach it might be worth heading there anyway to see what’s going on. How often do you get the chance to see a real movie being made, after all?
If some of the attractions you wanted to see while on holiday in Northumberland are closed because of the filming, make sure you have a backup plan. Check out our blog as we’ve got lots of great ideas on there as to what you can see and do while in this part of the world, such as Holy Island, Hadrian’s Wall and the stunning Northumberland National Park. This part of the UK is also a brilliant place to come if you love a bit of stargazing, so make sure you plan one lovely evening where you and your family can sit under the cloak of darkness and spot a few constellations.
