Fishing Package
Gill has put together the Fishing break for those expert in the art of fishing or for those who are completely new, she can even arrange a day with the Hardy’s of Alnwick fishing tutor.
The package includes collection from Railway Station (Newcastle or Carlisle) or Newcastle Airport (using a local taxi firm), cost of day tickets, transportation (local taxi), lunch and B&B, costs from £189.00.
Day tickets are available at two local lakes Sweethope and Langley dam.
Sweethope is justifiably famous for it's stock of large, hard fighting rainbow trout of up to 15lbs + Offering every angler, from novice to expert, a chance to hook into a true fish of a lifetime at every visit.
Sweethope Lough is the headwater of the Wansbeck river, which cuts it's scenic way to the North Sea through some of Northumberlands prettiest scenery.
Sweethope Lough also boasts good access to those anglers with disabilities, an easy access boat is available upon request.
Langley dam is a 14 acre lake which lies 8 miles west of Hexham, just off the A69 on the B6305. The fish are stocked regularly from 2lb up and boy can they fight. If you don't get a boat then you'll need waders for most parts. There is a lodge with car park and toilet facilities, all tidily kept. You can hire rods and they have a few bits of kit for sale.
Ask about the River Fishing, day tickets available on the South Tyne.
Facilities:
We have a drying room, storage for equipment and Gutting facilities. Large sink and very sharp knives although Gill probably won’t volunteer to do this for you she will provide freezer space.
There is Bywell fish and game smokery nearby - where fish can be dropped off without being gutted and left for a few days to get smoked or cured to your own taste. If you are leaving before the process is over they will send it to anywhere in the UK.
There are more fishing links on our attractions page.
If you have come to accompany a fisherman there is lots to see and do.
