The Reading Rooms bed and breakfast is perfectly situated for people looking to explore the historic Hadrian's Wall. The path you will use is a National Trail, 84 miles long and runs coast-to-coast. The Reading Rooms are located roughly half way along the World Heritage Site between Chollerford and Gilsland. Tread historic footsteps as people have been walking along Hadrian's Wall for over 2000 years.
Along the route there is scenery for all tastes - rolling fields, rugged hills and the vibrant Carlisle and Newcastle upon Tyne.
Please give us a call to see how we can help you get the best out of your walk between Chollerford and Gilsland.
You don't have to walk the wall in one trip, you could split it over two or more. There are also several circular walks and shorter trails to cater for all abilities. Two fascinating day trips would be to walk to Hadrian's Wall and then on to either Vindolanda or Housesteads Roman Fort.
The Reading Rooms bed and breakfast is close to the 685 bus route, Northern Rail Haydon Bridge station with good links to Newcastle and Carlisle and the A69 for road access.
The Reading Rooms is also ideally placed to visit Sycamore Gap which is also known as Robin Hood's tree from the 1991 movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.
There are a variety of places to eat in Haydon Bridge, ranging from own bought food to restaurants.
We have laundry and drying facilities.
